DC Pandey Projectile Motion Solutions

DC Pandey Mechanics Part 1 Solutions for Chapter 4 ‘Projectile Motion’ puts forth all the essential concepts that are required to learn about projectile motion in a detailed manner. This Chapter of DC Pandey Physics Book Solutions includes concepts like relative motion between two projectiles, relative acceleration, projectile motion in inclined plane and relations between height, and time and distance.

The chapter has 2 introductory exercises and two separate corners for AIEEE (now JEE Mains) and JEE. All the questions from the exercises aim at developing a better understanding of the chapter basics and providing thorough practice for competitive and board exams. Once you engage with the chapter you will be able to plot graphs related to projectile motion and detect the crucial point, find Ө for the motion curve and formulate equations for relative motions between two projectiles.

Instasolv’s DC Pandey Mechanics Part 1 Projectile Motion Solutions have been carefully formulated by subject experts who have ensured that all your confusions are solved at one go. Our study material is exceptionally helpful for your exam preparations with all the important pointers, questions and concepts compiled at one place. With the assistance of these solutions, you will surely shine out and give a remarkable boost to your Physics marks.

Important Topics for DC Pandey Mechanics Part 1 Solutions Chapter 4: Projectile Motion

Projectile Motion

When a body or a particle is acted upon with a constant force such that the angle is Ө (not equal to 0 or 180°) with the direction of its initial velocity (not equal to 0), the path that is followed by the particle is termed to be a parabola and the motion of the body or the particle is termed as projectile motion.

Projectile motion falls under the category of two-dimensional motions which means that the motion of the particle is constrained to a plane. This motion has a constant acceleration.

Relative Motion Between Two Projectiles

In DC Pandey Projective Motion chapter, you will learn about relative motion between two projectiles and the fundamentals related to the phenomenon. You will also get to know that the relative acceleration between two projectiles in 0 and there is always uniform relative motion between them.

The chapter also explains the relationship between the velocity of the two projectiles and their respective components. The algebraic formulas have been derived and explained with all the components like speed, height and displacement.

Projectile Motion in Inclined Plane

You will come across different scenarios where projectile motion occurs and the fundamentals of motion depending on those situations. The two cases that will be discussed in the chapter are

  • Up the plane – where the direction of the x-axis is in the upward direction of the plane and y is in a perpendicular direction.
  • Down the plane – where both x and y are down the plane and also perpendicular to the plane.

With the help of these, you will learn to formulate equations and determine the range, time of flight, displacement and a maximum height of the body or particle in motion. These concepts have been explained with examples in the chapter and have been used in solving numerical questions in the chapter. You will also learn to determine the maximum and minimum range for displacement and equate them with the formulas and values from the exercises.

Exercise-wise Discussions of DC Pandey Mechanics Part 1 Chapter 4: Projectile Motion

Introductory Exercise 4.1

  • This exercise has a total of 11 questions that revolve around the concepts of time, height, velocity and displacement.
  • All these questions are simple formula-based problems from the introductory portions of the chapter.

Introductory Exercise 4.2

  • This exercise comprises of 7 questions in total. All these questions are numerical-based on the diagrams that have been provided with them along with the statements.
  • These questions also deal with perpendicular velocity, object collision, simultaneous movement and plane of inclination.

AIEEE Corner (now JEE)

  • As the name suggests, this corner consists of questions that are important for JEE Mains Physics preparation.
  • This exercise consists of two different sections namely, Subjective Questions and Objective Questions.

  • There are 22 problems under the Subjective Questions. All of these are numerical problems and revolve around the concept of projectile motion from ground to ground, relative motion in projectiles and projectile motion in inclined planes.

  • There are 16 problems under the Objective Questions. These deal with concepts of kinetic energy, horizontal component, uniform acceleration, the ratio of heights and distance.

JEE Corner

  • This section has a total of 5 different exercises. It begins with Assertion and Reason which has 10 questions. You will come across logic-based reasoning questions which deal with speed, vertical component, range and acceleration component.
  • Then there are 12 Objective Questions which are all simple, formula-based and graph-oriented.
  • More Than One Correct Option is the third exercise of this section with 6 questions. These deal with particle collision, displacement, inclined horizontal planes and angular components.
  • Then, there is Match the Columns exercise with 7 different sets of information regarding vertical components, projectile motion, relative displacement, trajectories of particles and speed. The section ends with 10 Subjective questions, which include theory-based reasoning and analytical questions along with some numerical and diagram based problems.
