Electromagnetic Induction

The formation of an electromotive force through an electrical conductor in a fluctuating magnetic field is known as electromagnetic induction. It is also known as magnetic induction and is discovered by Michael Faraday in 1831.

Faraday’s Law

Faraday’s law of induction is a simple law of electromagnetism calculating how a magnetic field will act together with an electric circuit to generate an electromotive force. This process is called electromagnetic induction.

Lenz’s Law

Lenz’s law was titled after the physicist Emil Lenz who expressed it in 1834. The law describes that the direction of the electric current which is induced in a conductor by an altering magnetic field is such that the magnetic field produced by the induced current competes with the initial changing magnetic field.

Eddy Current

The rounds of electrical current brought inside the conductors by a fluctuating magnetic field in the conductor as per Faraday’s law of induction is called an Eddy current. It flows inside a closed-loop within conductors, in planes perpendicular to the magnetic field.

Self-Induction

Self-inductance is defined as the generation of a voltage in a wire which is carrying current inside it when the wire itself is fluctuating. In the case of self-inductance, the magnetic field produced by a changing current in the circuit itself brings a voltage in the same circuit. Thus, the voltage is self-induced.

Mutual Induction

Mutual induction is the phenomenon that current passing through a conductor will produce a magnetic field, and a fluctuating magnetic field will induce a current in another conductor.

Induced EMF

Induced EMF is also called as induced electromagnetic induction, electromotive force, and EMF induction. It can be described as the generation of a potential difference in a coil due to the alterations in the magnetic flux through it.

Induction Coil

An induction coil comprises two coils of protected wire wound around a common iron core (M). One coil is known as the primary winding (P) and is made from relatively few (tens or hundreds) turns of coarse wire.
