Important Topics for NCERT Biology Exemplar Solutions Class 11 Chapter 21 – Neural Control and Coordination

Neural System

The neural system consists of extremely focused cells called neurons that can accept and transmit various kinds of signals. The Neural system in insects contains frequent ganglia and neural tissues. It is an extremely developed invertebrate.

Human Nervous System

The human nervous system is divided into the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, autonomic nervous system, neurons, and more.

Central Nervous System

In the vertebrates, the central nervous system is hollow whereas, in the invertebrates, it is solid. The central nervous system of a human is further classified into the spinal cord and brain.

Peripheral Nervous System

Peripheral Nervous System is made up of nerves that cover in between the central nervous system and body parts. It consists of cranial and spinal nerves.

Autonomic Nervous System

The Autonomic Nervous System is made up of nerve fibres and monitors the involuntary functions of the body. It is also collected from sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

Reflex Action and Reflex Arc

The procedure of reacting to peripheral nerve stimulation that happens involuntarily demanding the involvement of a part of the CNS is termed as a reflex action. The reflex pathway comprises at least one efferent neuron and one afferent neuron.

The afferent neuron accepts signals from sensory organs and transfers them to the Central Nervous System. The efferent neuron transfers signals from CNS to the effector organ.

Human Eye

Eyes are the most significant organ of the human body. The wall of the eyeball is collected of three layers including the external layer that consists of a dense connective tissue called the sclera, the anterior portion of it is the cornea, the middle layer choroid comprises numerous blood vessels. The ciliary body itself remains forward creating a pigmented and opaque structure known as iris.

The eyeball contains a transparent lens detained in place by ligaments combined to the ciliary body. The aperture enclosed by the iris in front of the lens is the pupil whose diameter is controlled by muscle fibres of the iris.
