## Important Topics for NCERT Maths Exemplar Solutions Class 11 Chapter 3 – Trigonometric Functions

What are the Trigonometric Functions?

Trigonometric functions are basic functions, which consist of an angle. Trigonometric functions define the relation between the angles and sides of a right-angle triangle. Applications of trigonometric functions are very different. For example, any periodic development can be characterized as a sum of trigonometric functions. These functions frequently appear in the solution of differential and functional equations.

The trigonometric functions consist of the following functions: sine, cosine, tangent, cotangent, secant, and cosecant. For each of these functions, there is an opposite trigonometric function.

Allied or Related Angles

Two angles are said to be allied or related angles when their sum or difference is either a multiple of 90° or 0. The angles consisting of θ, 360° —θ, 270° + θ, 180° ± θ, 90° ± θ, etc., are angles allied to the angle θ, if θ is measured in degrees.
