## NCERT CBSE Class 6 Maths Chapter 13

In NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Maths Chapter 13 – Symmetry, you will learn that the symmetry of an object can be defined as one half of the object is a mirror image of the remaining another half. Here, you will also learn that when a particular object is divided into half, both sides are exactly the same. The line which will split them into two is known as the line of symmetry. A simple example of symmetry is reflection symmetry.

• Introduction to Symmetry

In this section of NCERT Class 6 Maths Chapter 13 – Symmetry, you will learn about the proportions and various types of symmetry. Some of the types have been listed below.

1. Bilateral symmetry: In NCERT Solutions for Class 6th Maths Chapter 13 – Symmetry, you will learn that bilateral symmetry is when a picture is divided into two halves through one line and the halves they overlap with each other completely. A butterfly is an example of bilateral symmetry.
2. Line symmetry: In Class 6 Maths Symmetry, you will read that line symmetry is when a line divides a figure into two symmetrical parts.
• Lines of symmetry: In Class 6 Maths Symmetry

you will learn that any number of lines of symmetry can pass through a figure. A single line of symmetry example would be a door lock. An isosceles triangle is another example of one line symmetry. A scalene triangle is an example of no line symmetry. An equilateral triangle is an example of two or more line symmetry.

• Point symmetry and Reflection symmetry

In this part of CBSE NCERT Class 6 Maths Chapter 13, you will be taught how reflection symmetry is similar to line symmetry excepting for the change of the orientation. For example, when you face the mirror, your right hand will become your left hand, and your left hand becomes your right.

In this part of CBSE NCERT Class 6 Maths book, you will also learn how the point symmetry works around a single central point and how the symmetry could be established through relevant examples. Some examples of point symmetry are snowflakes, spider webs, honeycomb, sunflowers and wings of the butterflies and an hourglass.

• Kaleidoscope

In this section of NCERT Solutions for Class 6th Maths Chapter 13-Symmetry, you will be taught how a kaleidoscope mirror produces images which consist of several lines in it. You will also learn the properties and uses of the kaleidoscope.

In NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Maths Chapter 13-Symmetry, you will learn that usually, three mirrors each at 60 degrees form an equilateral triangle. Kaleidoscope is a device which is made of three plane and rectangular mirrors arranged in the shape of a triangle (Usually equilateral). A butter paper is positioned at one end, and different coloured beads and balls are placed inside. The other end is closed with a transparent sheet. On looking through the transparent sheet, the coloured objects undergo multiple reflections producing amazing symmetrical patterns

## CBSE NCERT Class 6 Maths Chapter 13 Exercises

This unit has three exercises that contain a total of 17 questions. These exercises help you cover all parts of the CBSE NCERT Class Maths Chapter 13 efficiently. The exercises of this chapter have been listed below.
