NCERT CBSE Class 6 Maths Chapter 6

NCERT CBSE Class 6 Maths Chapter 6 of CBSE Class 6 Maths Syllabus will teach you many crucial concepts. All components of this chapter have been listed below.

  • Whole Numbers

Here you will learn that all positive numbers are known as natural numbers. It also tells you that all-natural numbers along with zero are called whole numbers. When you move to the left of zero on a number line, you will get numbers that are less in value than zero.

  • Positive Numbers and Negative Numbers

This section tells you that the numbers on the left side of zero on the number line are negative numbers such as -1, -15, -100 and so on. It also tells you that numbers on the right side of the number line are positive numbers. It teaches you that the combination of whole numbers, natural numbers & negative numbers are referred to as integers.

In this part of NCERT CBSE Class 6 Maths Chapter 6, you will learn about the items and things that are tagged negative or positive. As you know, some things have ‘+’ signs while others have ‘-’ symbols. Here, the big question is to decide which sign to use. For example, the profits are always marked with ‘+’ whereas the losses are marked with ‘-’ sign. Likewise, places above the sea level and temperature above zero degrees are indicated by ‘+’ sign, and places below the sea level or the temperature lower than zero degrees are indicated with ‘-’ sign.

  • Representation of Integers on a Number Line

In this part of NCERT CBSE Class 6 Maths Chapter 6, you will learn the representation of positive and negative numbers on a number line. For this, you will start writing a few points on the line and by tagging one of them as zero. In this unit, you will also learn, as you move to the right of zero, on the number line you will get all positive numbers like 1, 2, 3, and so on. You will also learn that points which are marked on the left of zero are negative and marked -1, -2, -3 and so on.

  • Ordering of Integers

In this part of NCERT Class 6 Maths Chapter 6 – Integers, You will learn that the numbers to the left of zero are negative numbers and that to the right are positive numbers. It will also teach you to identify which number is larger in value and which one is lesser in value. It tells you about a simple yet significant rule which states that the value of the number rises when you are moving toward the right of the number line and reduces when you move left on the number line.

  • Addition and Subtraction of Integers

In this portion, you will learn about the addition and subtraction of integers. You will also learn about the properties of addition and subtraction of integers. Both these mathematical operations are complex and perplexing as you have to be careful with using ‘+’ and ‘-’ sign while solving a problem sum.

An example of the rules associated with these mathematical operations is that when you need you to add two integers where you have been given two positive integers or two negative numbers, the result of adding two positive numbers will be positive, and the result of adding two negative numbers will also be positive.

In this section of NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Maths Chapter 6 – Integers, you will also learn about subtraction of integers and representation of the same on a number line. Here you will learn some important properties of subtraction of integers. Some of them include associativity of addition, commutativity property, closure under addition, and additive identity. Our subject experts have used easy and simple language along with the short cut techniques to help you learn about integers and their calculations fast.

  • Multiplication and Division of Integers

This section will teach you how to multiply integers and division of integers. It talks about the different properties of multiplication of integers.  Some of them are closure under multiplication, associativity of multiplication, commutativity of multiplication, distributive properties of integers, multiplicative identity, and multiplication by zero. This portion of our NCERT Solutions for Class 6th Maths Chapter 6-Integers also helps you understand various properties of the division of integers.
