Topics Covered Under NCERT For Class 9 Maths Chapter 10
In CBSE Class 9 Maths NCERT Solutions for Class 9 Chapter 10 Circles, you will learn about circles, parts of circles, properties of a circle etc. Our NCERT solutions will give you a detailed explanation and will make it easy for you to solve the questions easily.
In a plane, when the set of all the points is at the same distance from the centre, then it forms a circle. It can also be called as a simple closed curve.
Diameter Of A Circle
When a chord is drawn and is made to pass through the centre of the circle, then it is called the diameter of the circle. This chord is the longest. Diameter is double of the radius.
When 2 points of the circles are joined, the portion of the circle between these 2 points is known as the arc. When an arc is drawn, the circle is divided into 2 pieces, the longer one is called the Major Arc and the shorter one is called the Minor Arc.
When we go around the boundary of the circle, the distance covered is known as the circumference of the circle. It can also be known as the total length of the circle.
Segment Of The Circle
When an arc is made, the interior area which lies between a chord and an arc is known as the segment of the circle. There are 2 types of segments – Major segment and the Minor segment. The part of the circle which lies between a pair of radius and an arc is known as the sector. Just like segments, sectors are also of two types major and the minor.
Semi Circular Region
To obtain a semi-circular region, both the sector and the segment of a circle should be made the same, which would turn into a semi-circle and eventually semi-circular region would be obtained.
Equal chords of the circle possess equal angles at the centre.
2 chords would become equal when they make equal angles at the centre of the circle.
To always bisect the chord, the perpendicular is to be made from the centre of a circle.
To bisect the chord to its perpendicular, the line should be drawn through the centre of the circle
For only 1 circle to pass through points, there should always be given 3 noncollinear points.
