(4) : Total number of boys ( =1100 ) and total number of girls ( =900 ) ( therefore ) Total number of passed boys [ begin{aligned} &=50 % times text { of } 1100 =& frac{50 times 1100}{100}=550 end{aligned} ] and total number of passed girls ( =40 % ) of 900 [ =frac{40 times 900}{100}=360 ] Thus, total number of passed students [ =550+360=910 ] ( therefore ) Total number of failed students [ =1100+900-910=1090 ] Hence, required per cent of failed students [ =frac{1090}{2000} times 100 %=54.5 % ]
