  • Surface Area of Cuboid: A cuboid has six rectangular faces with the dimensions l, b, h respectively as given in the figure. 

Total Surface Area of Cuboid =  2(l×b)+2(b×h)+2(l×h)=2(lb+bh+lh)

Lateral Surface Area = sum of the areas of the lateral faces =  area of face AEHD + area of face BFGC + area of face ABFE + area of face DHGC

  • Surface Area of Cube: For a cube, the three dimensions i.e. length, breadth, and height should be the same.

Total Surface Area of Cube = 6 x (length2)

Lateral Surface Area of Cube = 4 x  (length2)

  • Surface Area of Cylinder: When a rectangle is folded along its length, it gains a shape of a cylinder.

Curved Surface Area (CSA) of Cylinder = 2π r x h

❖   Total Surface Area of Cylinder =  2 x area of circle of cylinder  + CSA of cylinder

                         =   2 x π ( square of radius)  +  2π r x h

                         = 2 π r (r + h)

  • Surface Area of Right Circular Cone: For a right circular cone with dimensions – slant height l,  base radius r, and height h respectively.

  Curved Surface Area (CSA) of Cone =  π r l

 ❖ Total Surface Area of Cone = CSA of right circular cone + area of base of cone

                    = π r l +  π r2

                                  = π r ( l + r)

  • Surface Area of Sphere: Let us consider a sphere having radius ‘r’.

Total Surface Area of Sphere =   4 π r2

  •       Volume of Cuboid = base area x height  = lbh 
  •       Volume of Cube = (Length)2  
  •       Volume of Cylinder π(r2)h
  •       Volume of  Right Circular Cone =  ⅓ [π(r2)x h 
  •       Volume of Sphere = (4/3)πr3
